Help America Vote
Act of 2002
(HAVA)
A
First-Time Voter is a person who has registered but has never voted in Harper
County and has not provided identification to the election office prior to
the election.
First-Time
Voters need to provide identification to a county election official to be
eligible to receive a ballot. The name and address on the form used for
identification must match the voter registration information given to the election
office. Acceptable forms of ID are as follows:
Ø
Current and valid driver’s license or non-driver’s ID card issued by the
Kansas Division of Motor Vehicles.
Ø
Current utility bill.
Ø
Bank statement.
Ø
Paycheck.
Ø
Government check.
Ø
Other government document showing correct name and current address.
Providing
documentation before Election Day allows the election process to run more
smoothly at the polling places. First-time voters who have not
previously provided identification will be asked to do so at the polling
place before voting.
To
check if you are considered a “First-Time Voter”, please contact the Harper
County Clerk’s Office at (620) 842-5555.
