    Harper County Emergency Communications (911) is currently accepting applications for a Full Time Communications Specialist. A Communications Specialist is responsible for receiving and dispatching emergency and non-emergency calls in the 911 center through the operation of dispatch radios, computers, 911 and administrative phone lines. Work involves dispatching police officers, sheriff’s deputies, fire, and ambulance to calls for the Harper County. Position requires strong verbal communication, listening, and proficient typing skills. Successful candidate will display ability to deal with stressful situations and multi-task. Critical thinking skills are necessary. Hiring Range is $14.33 - $16.13, actual rate will be determined based on relevant experience. Harper County Emergency Communications is in service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, currently staffing 12-hour shifts. Dispatchers will be trained in Emergency Medical Dispatch. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid non-restricted driver’s license.
